based is an anonymous, positive polling app for classmates to send compliments.
How much does it cost?
The app is free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions.

based was created by Nicklaus Tran.
Is based private?
Yes. Polls are anonymous. We collect the minimum data needed to make the app work and connect you with classmates. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Is based safe?
We built safety in from day one. Users can block polls they don’t want to be suggested for and report inappropriate content. Reports are manually reviewed. There are no public profiles and no messaging.
Where is based available?
Currently, we support U.S. high schools.
The App
How do I sign up?
Download the app and sign up with your phone number. Choose your school and grade to join your school’s network.
How do I add friends?
You can optionally allow Contacts to find classmates already using the app. You can use based without Contacts access.
Can I see who answered a poll about me?
No. Polls are 100% anonymous in based. We do not offer identity reveals.
Are the polls real?
Yes. Every poll you receive is created by real classmates within your school network.
Why am I seeing fewer polls?
To keep things balanced, the app may show you in polls more often if you haven’t been picked recently.
Account
Why do I need a phone number and school?
Your phone number is used to verify your account. Your school keeps polls relevant to your classmates.
What is Contacts access used for?
Contacts (optional) helps you find classmates already on the app. We don’t send texts without your permission.
What is location access used for?
We may request approximate location during sign up to suggest nearby schools. We don’t track your location after sign up.
How do I block being suggested?
You can block polls that suggest you, which reduces how often you appear as an option.
How do I report a problem?
Use the in-app report tools or email us at support.basedapp@gmail.com.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Manage Account → Delete Account.
